Showtime your review of Maisy Takes a Bathroom
Generally I don't review, or fifty-fifty mention, motion-picture show books on Goodreads because, as the mother of a toddler, I read about forty-five of them a day. However, this book was and then bizarre and upsetting, I wanted to share my thoughts. The world of Maisy is odd to brainstorm with. They are kids, presumably, but there are no adults. And they gallivant around the urban center and the funfair unattended and (i can hope) completely safety. And so, like many kids' books, there is definitely a level of disbelief-suspension req
Generally I don't review, or even mention, moving picture books on Goodreads because, as the mother of a toddler, I read nigh xl-5 of them a solar day. Notwithstanding, this book was and then bizarre and upsetting, I wanted to share my thoughts. The world of Maisy is odd to begin with. They are kids, presumably, only at that place are no adults. And they gallivant around the urban center and the carnival unattended and (one can hope) completely safe. So, like many kids' books, there is definitely a level of disbelief-interruption required to enter Maisy'due south universe.
And so, I stumbled across Maisy Takes a Bath during a quick jaunt to a library with my daughter, who insisted on reading a volume despite our tight timeline (that's my daughter!). I quickly realized that this book would crave some immediate on-the-wing editorializing as I read it. Here's the deal: Maisy is nigh to accept a bathroom. Talulah the craven rings the doorbell and asks Maisy to play. Maisy politely declines as she is nearly to take a bath. Act 2: Maisy is in the bath and the doorbell rings again. It's Talulah again wanting to play. Not much time could have elapsed since Maisy is still bathing! Maisy one time again politely declines, but this time Talulah is apparently having none of information technology. Talulah wordlessly walks by Maisy into the house, tromping upstairs and immediately taking off all of her clothes and getting into Maisy's bathtub. Maisy joins Talulah in the bathroom, hopefully mentally composing an explanation of acceptable social norms for the disturbingly clueless chicken.
I don't actually call back this book is going to warp my daughter or convince her that it'southward okay to become naked without invitation and impose on other peoples' plans. But it was perhaps the most striking instance of a picture book that conveyed all the wrong messages. I don't know if I can trust you again, Maisy. You really permit me down.
...more I learned Lucy Cousins is a pervert with a fetish for lesbian interspecies erotic water fun.In this tale we find Maisy mouse, trying to have a bath. Maisy is interrupted twice by her friend Tallulah - some sort of bird. Tallulah runs upstairs and takes off her clothes and plays in the tub with Maisy.
mmmm hmmm.
This is not wholesome reading. No sir.
Let's just say that I was deeply disappointed with this book. At that place should always be some boundaries. Maisy tells her friend Tallulah that she is taking a bath and can't play at that time, to which the friend decides that it'southward okay to button past her at the door, walk upwardly the stairs, get naked and spring in the tub with her. Since when did this become okay?
Tallulah totally creeps me out in this ane. Chicken cannot take a hint to save her life, then she walks right into Maisy'south firm, takes off her dress, and gets in Maisy's bathtub without even asking? WTF? A simple book about bath fourth dimension. Maisy is interrupted by her friend, who eventually joins her in the bathroom. Its not that special of a book overall, but just correct for toddlers who love their bath time.

Also, I think this volume should be called "Tallulah'south Bath" in behemothic letters and in much smaller letters, "in which Maisy also happens to be nowadays" could follow. That would be much more authentic.

Both of my children accept loved this volume. Even more than so than others in the Maisy series. I think information technology is the applicability to their lives. Maisy is preparing for a bath. Tallulah keeps ringing the doorbell because she wants to play. Finally, Tallulah waltzes in, strips and joins Maisy in the bathroom. Uh...okay.
